Meet the Team - Alisa Trubilina

Alisa Trubilina teaches International GCSE and A Level Physics for Pearson Online Academy UK Global. Here she talks about her taste for remote learning – and how she came to master the unmute button… 

Why I joined Pearson Online Academy UK Global 

I developed a taste for online teaching during the lockdown, so becoming part of Pearson Online Academy UK Global matched my vision of online teaching and learning and I’m excited to be part of the school. Adapting my work for remote delivery was a fascinating and refreshing experience, that allowed me to re-invent many of my strategies. It has been an incredibly rewarding process. I love the scope that Pearson Online Academy UK Global can offer in assisting students individually, by using directed learning time and the automation of assessments and feedback. It is also great to feel part of a global community of highly skilled professionals with exceptional educational expertise and the desire to keep improving.  

What I’m most looking forward to about teaching in the school 

I’m most looking forward to having the ability to instantly gauge where all of my students are on the educational journey – be it their comprehension of some new idea, practising new skills, or new mathematical concepts. Through the Academy I will be able to digitally assess their performance, and thus provide personalised, timely support. This will make my students’ learning journeys as smooth and as enjoyable as they could possibly be! 

The challenges I’m excited to overcome at Pearson Online Academy UK Global 

I’m hoping to swiftly get to grips with all the new technology. I went through a number of embarrassing situations to learn how to mute AND unmute myself – but I’m there now! 

If I could tell students thinking about joining the school just one thing, it would be… 

That this is the future of education. Content delivery is becoming streamlined, and students are already using video clips and various self-marking resources found on the internet to ‘top-up’ on the information they gain in school. What Pearson Online Academy UK Global offers is effectively a way to not only deliver this knowledge, but assess you and give you individualised feedback. Along the way you will still have a teacher who is human, who is infinitely capable of diagnosing any gaps in the understanding or skills you may have, and who can adapt their way of delivering the information to your specific needs. Meanwhile, by connecting to like-minded people from all over the world, you will find many fantastic fruitful opportunities in the later stages of your education – and perhaps even in your future employment.
