Meet the Team - Daniel Cox
Khya Newell

Daniel Cox teaches Maths and Further Maths for International GCSE and A Level. He tells us what excites him about being a teacher with the academy – and explains why he might need to work on sitting still…

Why I joined the Pearson Online Academy UK Global?

Personalised learning and the 20 years of experience Pearson has in supporting online schools is what sets the Pearson Online Academy UK Global apart from the rest. After completing a Master’s Degree in Online and Distance Education, I searched for an online teaching role such as this. I wanted the opportunity to provide personalised learning, and use innovative e-learning materials and techniques in my classes.

What I’m most looking forward to about teaching in the school

Online learning has lots of benefits, so I’m looking forward to using those; working with students individually, giving them the dedicated attention they need through personalised learning and making a difference in their lives. It will also be great to be part of Pearson Online Academy UK Global’s international community and be able to bring my expertise in assessment and application of marking schemes to the school.

The challenges I’m excited to overcome at Pearson Online Academy UK Global

Having taught in secondary settings for well over a decade, it might be strange not to be able to just look over a learner's shoulder at their maths work. However, there are ways this can be overcome in the digital classroom. Otherwise, sitting still during lessons could be a challenge! I usually clock up a lot of steps during face-to-face lessons!

If I could tell students thinking about joining the school just one thing, it would be…

You can really take control of your education and accelerate your learning at Pearson Online Academy UK Global. So see you there?
