Meet the Team - Jessica Dowd

Jessica Dowd teaches International GCSE English for Pearson Online Academy UK Global. She shares her excitement on joining a global movement to benefit learners, and what it is about teaching that makes her tick. 

 

Why I joined Pearson Online Academy UK Global 

I was really attracted by the opportunity to be part of the development of an excellent and engaging learning experience at Pearson – part of the global momentum to improve education, make it fit for a new world, and capture all that the 21st Century has highlighted around being a global citizen. I also like the Academy’s innovative, personalised, data-led approach. 

 

What I’m most looking forward to about teaching in the school 

For the first time, I feel as if I am seeing a type of education that provides teaching and learning as it is meant to be. Academy teachers have time and space to think, analyse and teach. Students have time to learn, reflect, apply new knowledge, and to build on that with guidance from their teachers and the other support around them. I can’t wait to see the work from my students, to work with them to improve it, and to see them flourish using innovative analysis techniques. In short, I am most looking forward to teaching! 

 

The challenges I’m excited to overcome at Pearson Online Academy UK Global 

I’m excited to use new IT systems and processes, and discover all the data analysis tools and innovative materials that will be at our disposal.
